Dermal Fillers - Anti Ageing wrinkle treatments

Dermal Fillers are injectable treatments used to temporarily fill in lines on your face which develop as you get older and your skin loses its natural elasticity.

We use Restylane© as the filler of choice - Restylane has been used in over 6 million treatments world wide over the past 10 years.

The effects last from 6-12 months depending on your lifestyle.

Restylane is a range of Hyaluronic Acid based dermal filler products and is the only filler on the market that has been approved by the FDA.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a dermal filler?

Dermal fillers are injected into the skin to help give you a youthful appearance. At the Langdon Clinic, we use Restylane as our dermal filler of choice.

Restylane dermal filler is made up of Hyaluronic acid which is found naturally in the body - its main function is to lubricate joints and give the skin its elasticity.

What is the procedure?

Using a fine needle, Julie Langdon will inject the Restylane filler through a fine needle beneath the surface of the skin. It may be inserted slightly deeper if lines are more severe. Treatment will usually take about 30-60 minutes. We always apply an anaesthetic cream to the area before treatment. For some procedures dental anaesthetic blocks may be administered to provide complete pain relief.

After treatment, you may experience slight red marks and swelling but these will fade over a few hours.

The results of the treatment are not permanent but in most cases will last for 6 to 9 months so repeat treatment will be required.

What are the side effects?

After treatment, you may experience:

  • Slight swelling
  • Redness
  • Bruising
  • Temporary irritation or pain around treatment areas
  • Lumps or modules may appear around injection site
  • Rare cases of localised tissue damage, abscesses and hypersensitivity have been recorded after hyaluronic acid injections.

Julie will discuss all the issues with you at your consultation.

Treatment is unsuitable for ...

  • Pregnant women
  • Patients who are Breast feeding
  • Patients who are known to be Hypersensitive to hyaluronic acid
  • Patients with a past history of streptococcic disease
